WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR CAMPS

Join us this August for a fun-filled summer of creativity at Paper Crow Creative’s Art Camp!

Each day is packed with hands-on art making, outdoor activities, and plenty of opportunities to explore new skills and techniques.

We’re proud to host our camp in a big, beautiful bright space at Highlands United in Edgemont Village. This spacious setting allows us to separate into age groups, ensuring that each child receives the support they need. Older kids will be challenged with more detailed and complex projects, while younger campers will enjoy more hands-on guidance and age-appropriate activities. Connected to an outdoor courtyard with plenty of opportunity to get outside for fresh air and the day's outdoor creative activities and games.

Full-Day Campers will work on a larger, more in-depth project that spans the entire day, with smaller creative activities sprinkled in between to keep the inspiration flowing. We’ll break up the day with outdoor games and activities, plus a lunch break at the park and playground to enjoy some fresh air and playtime.

Half-Day Campers will dive into a wide range of smaller projects designed to fit within our shorter timeframe. These projects focus on variety and exploration without the longer drying times or multiple steps needed for bigger pieces.

Full-Week Campers will have the unique opportunity to tackle a larger, multi-step project that will evolve over the course of the week, alongside a variety of daily smaller projects to keep things fresh and fun.

Throughout the camp, we’ll explore a wide range of artistic mediums and techniques including but not limited to:

  • Painting with watercolour, acrylic, and fabric paint and combinations.

  • Printmaking such as mono printing, cyanotype, lithography, lino cutting, and more

  • Fabric arts including batik, hand sewing, crocheting, and weaving

  • Clay projects using air-dry, oven-bake, and kiln-fired clay. Full-week campers will get to work with kiln-fired clay and learn how to apply underglaze to their creations.

  • Creative Junk Journal - Full Week older campers will have the opportunity to learn the basics of book binding to create a beautiful Junk Journal for summer memories. Our younger week-long campers will create a less complex version with some hands on help.

  • Introduction to Stop Motion Animation - In small groups we will dive into the wonderful world of animation and have a lesson in the introduction of stop motion animation with some of the creations we create.

We’ll also explore mixed media, collage, and creative crafts using found objects—think building oceans in a jar, fairy garden creations, and even science experiments that turn into beautiful art! Along the way, we’ll celebrate the happy accidents that are part of every creative journey. And by popular request from our regular campers, we’re bringing back our jam-packed and freshly stocked FREE CRAFT area! This special space is open throughout the day for kids who want to experiment with their own ideas and create something from their imagination. It’s a place for free expression, with no pressure to follow the day’s projects. We’ve stocked it with plenty of materials, inspiring examples, and helpful instructors to support kids in bringing their visions to life.

Our motto:

"Trust the Process" - the campers usually hear me say it over and over AND OVER! Every project takes time, patience and even if it doesn't turn out the way you intended. You learned a little more and gained skills you didn't have before.

So get ready to roll up your sleeves and embrace a summer of messy and joyful art making with Paper Crow Creative!
